Affordable Zero-Energy Homes
Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley completed construction on the first certified DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes in North Carolina in 2016. The home also qualifies for a two-year comfort and energy use guarantee through the Advanced Energy SystemVision program. This workshop will take an in-depth look at the construction technologies and techniques involved in building an affordable Zero Energy Ready Home, including a super-insulated building envelope, as well as high-performance heating, cooling, and ventilation.

Cutting Costs While Keeping Quality
Julie Sellers came into Greater Greensboro HFH a year ago with a career in for-profit construction under her (tool) belt. In her time with the affiliate, she has made great strides in both cost-cutting and quality. In this session, she'll discuss a variety of strategies you can use in your own organization, including: Maintaining a quality product while staying on budget; How to procure vendors to partner up with HFH; Giving homes a more custom feel by making small, inexpensive adjustments; and How to avoid using retail box stores for materials.
